Gift, disappointment, lesson?

As I was sitting in a restaurant today, someone told me the following story......

There was a lady once that asked God for a flower and a butterfly. A couple of days later, she got a cactus and a caterpillar. She was very disappointed and slightly angry at God.

"Why did you gave me these ugly things?" she asked.

God never answered her, He stayed quiet......

It wasn't till a couple of days later that the caterpillar grew into a big beautiful butterfly and the cactus started blossoming the most precious flowers she's ever seen.

I'm not sure if this story is famous or not but it was the first time that I heard it. And I believe that there's a lot to learn from this story. So I would like to challenge you to think for yourself what you can learn from this story, as well as how to apply this lesson to your life at the moment.

I would really love to hear what it is....if you're willing to share.

Hi Sheedia,

I think that this may happen to us in various ways and times in life. We ask God for something and it comes in ways that may upset and challenge us. Sometimes, like in your story, we reject it and then after a while we may begin to adapt and take an actual interest. And finally see the special and interesting blessing that comes through time. I am thinking mainly of relationships, such as friendships or the prayer for a husband. They may be somebody we don't really like at first but then after some time spent and arguments, dislikes and differences settled, they can turn out to be the best people and friends you could ever have. God bless you and thanks for sharing!

jettahlily008, I thought about it in many ways but not in the regards of a relationship. Very interesting insight, something that indeed happens a lot.

By the way jettahlily008, I just looked at your profile and it said that your a graphic designer. I am interested in studying that and praying about where to do it. Do you have some kind of advice on this? Plus I would love to see your work, I really enjoy art.
